John Tartaglia Will Headline Newsical 2006

Tony Award nominee John Tartaglia heads the cast of Newsical 2006: The Next Edition, a new version of Rick Crom’s topical musical revue, directed and choreographed by Donna Drake. The show is scheduled to play December 17-31 at the Village Theater.

The cast also includes Stephanie Kurtzuba, Trish Rapier, and Jamison Stern. Kurtzuba is currently appearing in A Mother, A Daughter, and A Gun; Rapier’s credits include The Boy from Oz and Golf: The Musical; Stern was seen on Broadway in By Jeeves.

Tartaglia originated the roles of Princeton/Rod in the Broadway musical Avenue Q, for which he received Tony and Drama Desk Award nominations; he recently co-starred in the Las Vegas production of the show, which is playing at the Wynn Hotel and Casino. In addition, he is currently serving as host of the New York Philharmonic’s Young People’s Concerts at Lincoln Center and is the creator, executive producer, and star of the Disney Channel series Johnny and the Sprites.
