John Epperson, Hedda Lettuce, Michael Musto to Take Part in Pride Month NYPL Events

Additional details have been announced for the LGBT summer adult programming throughout the month of June, presented as part of a Gay Pride Month celebration sponsored by The New York Public Library and Souleo Enterprises LLC.

John Epperson and Hedda Lettuce are among the performers who will take part.

A discussion on hip-hop in the community, The Last Taboo: LGBT Hip-Hop will feature Greg Tate, Corey “CL” Llewellyn, Baron, Go DDM, and DJ Baker (June 4; Tompkins Square Library). A second edition at Riverside Library (June 16) willfeature Foxxjazell, Soce The Elemental Wizard, and DJ Baker.

The National Comedy Theatre will present It Gets Better: Healing Through Improv on June 5 and 14, recreating scenes from the LGBT experience as suggested by event patrons.

In Styled by Literature (June 7), drag performers “Showbiz Spitfire” Paige Turner, Ebonee Excell, Yuhua Hamasaki, and Paper Magazine editorial director Mr. Mickey, will provide literary-inspired makeovers. A second edition (June 115) will feature Hedda Lettuce, Turner, and Hamasaki, with tips from socialite Bevy Smith. A third (June 22), will feature Turner, Hamasaki, Miles DeNiro, and Lindsay Weiner.

Wedding advice will be dispensed twice throughout the month in I Love You, Now Marry Me: Marriage in the LGBT Community. The first edition, held Monday, June 11, will feature advice from Dr. Darcy Smith Sterling; the second, held June 20 at the Mulberry Street Library, will feature blogger Charlie the Matchmaker.

Two editions of Love Thy Diva will be held, celebrating the work of favorite diva performers. On Saturday, June 16 at Tompkins Square Library, Madonna impersonator Vivian Belle, Bette Midler impersonator The Divine Grace, radio host Clay Cane, and columnist Michael Musto will celebrate diva worshipping in the LGBT community. On June 23 at the Riverside Library, Cane will moderate a discussion with Whitney Houston impersonator Tyra Ross, Beyonce impersonator Charley Marie, and political analyst Edward Wyckoff Williams.

John Epperson (aka Lypsinka) will conduct a lip-syncing workshop using literary-inspired music on Saturday, June 23 at Webster Library.

The month’s events will finish on June 30 at the Riverside Library with A Moment of …LOUD: A Fashion Reinvention, an interactive fashion workshop led by stylist and designer Beau McCall.
