John Cudia to be Broadway's New Phantom Beginning July 27
Based on the classic novel Le Fantôme de L'Opéra by Gaston Leroux, the show features music by Andrew Lloyd Webber, lyrics by Charles Hart (with additional lyrics by Richard Stilgoe), and book by Stilgoe and Lloyd Webber.
Cudia is currently starring as the Phantom in the show's national tour through May 24, and previously played the part on Broadway for a limited engagement in 2008. He has also played the part of Raoul both on Broadway and in the national tour, earning a National Broadway Touring Award nomination for the latter. He also played the role of Jean Valjean in the Broadway production of Les Misérables, with additional regional credits including Master Class, Jesus Christ Superstar, My Fair Lady, and South Pacific.
