Jennifer Hudson to Perform in Concert at Hammerstein Ballroom

Jennifer Hudson, who is earning tremendous acclaim and Oscar buzz for her performance as Effie White in the film Dreamgirls, will make her solo concert debut at 10pm on Saturday, December 30 at the Hammerstein Ballroom.

TItled One Night Only: Dreamgirls, the concert will include songs from the film in addition to favorites from Hudson’s appearances on TV’s American Idol and a few surprises. It will be followed by a dance party with DJ Junior Vasquez, featuring exclusive remixes from the Dreamgirls soundtrack. A presentation of The Saint At Large, the event will also include a “DANCESURROUND” light and video show directed by Richard Kimmel, performances by nightclub superstars including Kevin Aviance, and a “Supreme Runway” competition.

Hudson rose to prominence when she was one of 12 chosen from 70,000 hopefuls to compete in the third season of American Idol. She has performed in The Actors Fund of America’s benefit concert presentations of Hair and The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas. The Dreamgirls film is currently playing reserved-seat engagements in Los Angeles, San Francisco, and New York; it will be released nationwide on December 25.
