Jason Alexander, Florence Henderson, Patti LuPone, Catherine Zeta-Jones, et al. Featured on Poetic License CD

Patti LuPone, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Michael Cerveris, Florence Henderson, Kate Mulgrew, James Barbour, Harriet Harris, Cynthia Nixon, Kathleen Turner, and Jason Alexander are among the artists featured on Poetic License, the inaugural release from the newly formed CD label, GPR Records. The disc, which features over 100 poems read by 100 performers, will be available on April 2.

The poems, selected by the performer, range from Shakespeare’s sonnets to works by Margaret Atwood, W.H. Auden, William Blake, Samuel Taylor Coleridge, Ruyard Kipling, Tony Kushner, John Milton, William Wordsworth, and Walt Whitman.

GPR Records will record and distribute Broadway, classical, spoken word, and children’s music. Future discs from GPR Records include a performance by The InterSchool Orchestra performing two concert pieces based on Margaret Wise Brown’s classic children’s books Goodnight Moon / Runaway Bunny, which will feature guest narrators and vocalists to be announced shortly; a new album from opera star Daniel Okulitch, which will celebrate new American composers such as Ricky Ian Gordon, Jake Heggie and Lowell Leiberman; and The Great New York Pianists, which will bring together such artists as Dick Hyman, Lee Musiker, and Robbie Kandor, among others to be announced.
