Jan Maxwell will star in the revival of Arthur Kopit’s 1978 play Wings at Second Stage Theatre. John Doyle will direct the production, which will begin previews on October 5, in anticipation of an official opening on October 24.

The play centers on Emily Stilson (Maxwell), a 1920s wingwalker who discovers her life’s journey is a series of adventures. The company will also feature Teagle F. Bougere, Beth Dixon, January LaVoy, Anne L. Nathan, and Michael Warner.

Maxwell received two Tony Award nominations last season, one for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Play for The Royal Family and one for Outstanding Featured Actress in a Play for Lend Me a Tenor. Among her myriad other stage credits are Coram Boy, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Sixteen, A Doll’s House, and Scenes from An Execution.

The creative team will include Scott Pask (scenic design), Ann Hould-Ward (costume design), Jane Cox (lighting design), and Peter Nigrini (projection design).
