Irish Repertory Theatre Announces Casting for World Premiere Musical Transport, Directed by Tony Walton

Irish Repertory Theatre has announced complete casting for its upcoming world premiere production of Transport, a new musical featuring a book by Australian novelist Thomas Keneally (Schindler's Ark, the novel upon which the Academy Award-winning film Schindler's List is based) and a score by Larry Kirwan (Black 47). The musical will be directed and designed by three-time Tony Award winner Tony Walton, with choreography from Barry McNabb.
Set in the mid-19th century, Transport follows the tumultuous ocean voyage of a group of Irish women who were sentenced and subsequently sent on a prison ship to the relatively uninhabited south coast of Australia. The story is derived from a true story recalled by the Keneally's wife's grandmother, who journeyed in chains from Cork to Sydney, Australia, in 1846.
The cast includes Mark Coffin, Patrick Cummings (Donnybrook!), Terry Donnelly (Juno and the Paycock), Sean Gormley (The Weir), Jessica Grové (A Little Night Music), Pearl Rhein (Volpone), Emily Skeggs (Fun Home), and Edward Watts (It's a Bird…It's a Plane…It's Superman).
The production will begin performances February 7 in advance of a February 16 opening and run through April 6 on the Francis J. Greenburger Mainstage of the Irish Repertory Theatre.
