Indie Rocker Joe Popp Provides Score for Musical Pericles in Tampa
Longtime Jobsite contributors Neil Gobioff and Shawn Paonessa have adapted Shakespeare's play and shifted the action to the U.S. today. In this new musical take on the Bard, Perry, "Prince of Tires," gets caught up in a web of intrigue, incest and the mafia as he tries to balance having a family while also running a "family." His exploits take him through New Jersey, New York and Massachusetts, while he dodges mob hits, lecherous carnies, multiple storms at sea, and losing his wife and daughter.
In addition to his work with the bands dogs on ice and The Hornrims, Popp has composed for theater, including a punk-rock version of Macbeth seen at Florida's American Stage in 1997.For further information, visit www.jobsitetheater.org.
