Broadway Bares, the annual event in which some of Broadway’s hottest dancers strut their stuff (tastefully!) in elaborately choreographed and costumed strip numbers to raise money for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, is always one of the year’s biggest parties. In two performances at Roseland last night, the 14th annual edition of BB — directed by Jodi Moccia and executive produced by Jerry Mitchell — more than lived up to expectations. Subtitled “Now Showing,” it was a hilarious and sexy tribute to the movies. Here are some photo images from the show, beginning with the hunky Keith Kuhl as a Rocky Balboa-type in a sequence titled “Yo, Adrian.”
“If this isn’t love, I’m Carmen Miranda.” Here’s a moment from a number titled “Going Bananas,” an hommage not only to Ms. Miranda but also to the Marx Brothers.
Whatever happened to Baby Jane? Well, she turned up at Roseland last evening.
Shaft was recalled in a hot number titled “Sexploitation.”
This photo gives you an idea of what The Living Art of Armando’s jaw-dropping “Easy Ride” act looked like.
The finale of the show, “Gonna Live Forever,” featured Jai Rodriguez (of Broadway’s Rent, Off-Broadway’s Zanna, Don’t!, and TV’s Queer Eye for the Straight Guy) singing “Fame.”
TM’s Joseph Marzullo also caught some of the action back stage at Roseland. Here’s Jai Rodriguez again with dancer Chuck Saculla…
…here’s John Tartaglia with his Avenue Q castmate Rod, fresh from the shower…
…and here’s Tartaglia again with Jennifer Cody (Urinetown, Taboo) and Christopher Sieber (Chicago, Thoroughly Modern Millie, etc.)
