Hunter Parrish will star as Jesus in the Broadway revival of Stephen Schwartz’s musical Godspell, which will begin previews at Circle in the Square on October 13, with an official opening set for November 7. Daniel Goldstein will direct the production, which will feature choreography by Christopher Gattelli. Additional casting will be announced at a later date.

The show, which debuted Off-Broadway at the Cherry Lane Theatre in 1971, is a take on biblical parables and the passion of Christ. It is conceived by original director John-Michael Tebelak, and features music and new lyrics from Schwartz.

The production will feature scenic design by David Korins, costume design by Miranda Hoffman, lighting design by David Weiner, sound design by Andrew Keister, orchestrations by Michael Holland, and musical direction by Charlie Alterman.

Parrish is perhaps best known for his role as Silas Botwin on Weeds, and the actor made his Broadway debut to critical acclaim as Melchior in the musical Spring Awakening. Among his film credits are It’s Complicated, 17 Again, and Paper Man.
