Hecht, Stuhlbarg, Redgrave, Rees, et al. Set for Revelation Readings

Michael Cerveris, Richard Easton, Jessica Hecht, Ellen McLaughlin, Michael Stuhlbarg, Lynn Redgrave, Roger Rees, and Matthew Rauch will star in the Red Bull Theatre’s Revelations Readings series this fall.

The series begins at 7pm on Monday, October 1 at the Playwrights Horizons mainstage with Hecht starring in Paula Vogel’s Desdemona, a Play About a Handkerchief. Proceeds from the readings, to be directed by Jesse Berger, will benefit the company.

The remainder of the series will take place at 7pm on various Mondays at the Peter Jay Sharp Theater at Playwrights Horizons. On October 8, Rauch will star in Thomas Middleton and William Rowley’s The Changeling, directed by Karin Coonrod; on October 22, Cerveris will appear in Melanie Marnich’s Tallgrass Gothic, a lyrical re-telling of The Changeling, to be directed by Leigh Silverman; and on October 29, Stuhlbarg and McLaughlin will star in Anthony Clarvoe’s adaptation of Albert Camus’ The Just, directed by Ethan McSweeny.

On November 12, Eleanor Holdridge will direct Aphra Behn’s The Rover; on November 26, Easton and Redgrave will appear in Chrstopher Fry’s The Lady’s Not for Burning, directed by Tony Award winner Joseph Hardy; on January 14, Lear deBessonet will direct Kay Matshcullat’s Don’t Fuck With Love, and on January 21, Rees will star in James Shirley’s The Cardinal, directed by Carl Forsman.

Red Bull’s mainstage season will kick off with Jesse Berger’s production of Christopher Marlowe’s Edward the Second, December 11-January 13, at the Peter Jay Sharp. Members of he company, which is yet to be announced, will also perform excerpts from Bertolt Brecht’s Edward II on January 7 as part of the reading series. A second mainstage production will be announced at a later date.
