Guy Fredrick Glass' The Last Castrato to Play Off-Broadway in November
Inspired by true events, the play tells the story of Moreschi , the last of the unique, almost forgotten group -- the castrati -- who in the early years of the 20th century, is the only one to make phonograph records. This is his personal journey through which he gains wisdom, self-confidence, and acceptance of his sexual identity through his artistry and aspiration triumphing over bureaucracy, conservatism, and raw political ambition.
Glass, a practicing psychiatrist, has had performances and readings of his plays in New York City, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Nebraska, Washington DC, England, and Japan. This is his first staged full-length play.
