Guare, Kramer, Rabe, Akalaitis to Talk at The Public Theater

Reliving Incendiary Moments in Public Theater History, a free discussion with director JoAnne Akalaitis and playwrights John Guare, Larry Kramer, and David Rabe, will take place at 7pm on Wednesday, November 9 at The Public Theater (425 Lafayette Street). The discussion, to be moderated by journalist Ken Auletta, is the third event in The Public TALKS, a year-long series presented as part of the theater’s 50th anniversary celebration.

Guare wrote such plays as Six Degrees of Separation and The House of Blue Leaves, and the libretto of Two Gentlemen of Verona; Kramer is best-known as the author of The Normal Heart, first seen at the Public and revived there last year; Rabe’s works include Streamers, Sticks and Bones, and Hurlyburly.

Akalaitis is a past artistic director of the Public. Her credits as a stage director include Woyzcek at the Public, Arts and Leisure at Playwrights Horizons, and In the Summer House for Lincoln Center Theater.
