Giving It Their All!

Matthew Broderick, Steven Weber, Jonathan Cake, Anna Madeley, Christopher Hampton, and David Grindley discuss the Roundabout Theatre Company’s upcoming revival of The Philanthropist.

Christopher Hampton’s 1971 comedy The Philanthropist, about a British university professor who is so nice that he actually drives everyone crazy, only had a brief Broadway run. So it’s a good thing the Roundabout Theatre Company is offering another look at this play, and even better that they recruited Tony Award winner Matthew Broderick for the lead role. TheaterMania recently sat down with Broderick and Hampton, as well as director David Grindley and co-stars Steven Weber, Jonathan Cake, and Anna Madeley to talk about this intriguing revival.
