The Gallery Players company has announced its 40th anniversary season of productions in Park Slope, Brooklyn, to be presented from September 2006 through June 2007.

The season will open with a program of two one-act plays by Christopher Durang, The Actor’s Nightmare and Sister Mary Ignatius Explains It All for You (September 9-24). Next up will be the musical Urinetown (October 14-November 5), with a book by Greg Kotis, lyrics by Kotis and Mark Hollmann, and music by Hollmann, directed by Tom Wojtunik. It will be followed by a revival of Torch Song Trilogy (November 25-December 10, 2006), the Tony Award-winning comedy-drama by Harvey Fierstein, one of The Gallery Players’ founding members.

From January 13 through 28, 2007, the company will present the first New York City revival of Terrence McNally’s Dedication, or The Stuff of Dreams. That show will be followed by Violet (February 17-March 11), the 1997 musical with book and lyrics by Brian Crawley and music by Jeanine Tesori, directed by M. R. Goodley; Molière’s The Learned Ladies (March 31-April 15), to be performed in Richard Wilbur’s translation; the musical comedy Victor/Victoria (May 5-27), with a score by Henry Mancini and Leslie Bricusse, additional material by Frank Wildhorn, and a book by Blake Edwards, directed by Matt Schicker; and the company’s 10th Annual Black Box New Play Festival (June 7-24), featuring world premiere productions of works by tri-state area playwrights.

Founded in 1967, The Gallery Players has produced 381 works, including three New York premieres, nine first New York City revivals, and 156 world premieres. The Equity Showcase company performs in a theater located at 199 14th Street., between 4th and 5th avenues, in Park Slope.

Individual tickets for each show are priced at $18 for adults, $14 for children and senior citizens. For further information, visit www.galleryplayers.com.
