Fyvush Finkel, Rafael Goldwaser Set for Folksbiene’s Fall Season

Folksbiene has announced the two plays that it will present during the fall portion of its 2010-2011 season, to be presented at The Baruch Performing Arts Center.

The company’s first offering will be Fyvush Finkel Live! (October 17 – November 7). Directed by Mott Didner, and featuring choreography by Shorey Walker, the show will be a mix of song and story as the Emmy Award winning performer offers a first-hand account of his career that has spanned English and Yiddish roles, from Second Avenue to television.

France’s Rafael Goldwaser will be featured in the company’s second production, New Worlds: A Celebration of I.L. Peretz (November 11-November 21). The piece consists of two one-acts based on Peretz’s work. Goldwaser has conceived and will star in The Metamorphosis of a Melody (A Gigl Fun a Nigun), which will be directed by Pascal Holtzer and feature a score by Jean-Raymond Gelis. This longer work will be preceded by Motl Didner’s The Two Brothers (Di Tsvey Brider), which will have an original score by Dmitri “Zisl” Slepovitch.
