A funeral service for the multi-award winning composer Marvin Hamlisch was held today at Congregation Emanu-El in New York City.

As previously reported, the composer of A Chorus Line and many other works passed away last week in Los Angeles following a brief illness. He was 68.

According to an AP report, President Bill Clinton called Hamlisch, a “great, giving genius” at the service.

A choir of hundreds of singers, led by Judith Clurman, performed at the ceremony.

Among the assembled guests were actors Ann-Margret, Lucie Arnaz, Tony Danza, Raul Esparza, Richard Gere, Donna McKechnie, Idina Menzel, Liza Minnelli, Kelli O’Hara, and Leslie Uggams.
