Full Cast, Creative Team Set for Theatreworks USA’s The Plant That Ate Dirty Socks

Full cast and creative team information has been announced for Theatreworks USA’s presentation of The Plant That Ate Dirty Socks, featuring book, music, and lyrics by Joe Iconis. Performances will take place at the Lucille Lortel Theatre, July 16-August 22.

Based on the children’s book of the same name by Nancy McArthur, the production is directed by John Simpkins and choreographed by Jennifer Werner. The show is the featured production of the company’s Free Summer Theatre Program, with NBC Today host Matt Lauer serving as Honorary Chair.

The cast will include Jason Williams as Michael and Lance Rubin as Norman, and features Lorinda Lisitza as Mom, Lauren Marcus as Patty Jenkins, Jeffrey Omura as Jason/Mackenzie and Kilty Reidy as Dad.

The creative team will include Michael Schweikardt (scenic design), Tracy Christensen (costume design), Chris Dallos (lighting design), Eric Shim (sound design), Eric Wright (puppet design), and Jana Zielonka (music direction).

Iconis is the recipient of an Ed Kleban Award and a Jonathan Larson Award, and is the composer-in-residence at Ars Nova. He is the writer of the notorious garage-rock musical The Black Suits which will be seen this summer at SPF at the Public Theater.
