Subprime, a new dark comedy written by Beck Lee, will receive two developmental readings on Tuesday, March 4.

Leading the cast is Tony nominee Annaleigh Ashford, who recently departed the cast of Broadway's Tony Award-winning musical Kinky Boots to continue work on the Showtime series Masters of Sex. The reading of Suprime will also feature Julian Cihi (Romeo and Juliet), Larry Mitchell, Joe Tapper, and Origin's 1st Irish Theatre Award winner Carey Van Driest (The International). Alice Jankell directs.

Set in the summer of 2008, only weeks before the Lehman Brothers bank collapse, the play follows two hardworking couples from Minneapolis who are in desperate need of a vacation. Both, however, are in deep denial about the state of their finances and relationships. The couples travel to New York on a bargain vacation and spend a night of revelry in a midtown Manhattan hotel that ends in disaster. Beck Lee, a veteran entertainment publicist, cocreated Subprime with Andrea Iten in Minneapolis where the play was initially developed.
