Gerard Allesandrini’s Forbidden Broadway will now end its 27-year New York run on March 1 rather than January 15 as the show’s current edition, Forbidden Broadway Goes to Rehab is extending at the 47th Street Theatre.

The musical parody — which lampoons Broadway shows and stars of the day — is written and co-directed by Allesandrini (with Philip George), and stars Christina Bianco, Jared Bradshaw, Gina Krezmer, and Michael West, with musical direction by David Caldwell. It features costumes by the late Alvin Colt and David Moyer, sets by Megan K. Halpern, and lighting by Mark T. Simpson.

This edition features spoofs of such hit shows as South Pacific, In the Heights, and August Osage County. The show’s previous edition, Forbidden Broadway: Rude Awakening won the 2008 Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Revue. Forbidden Broadway is also a recipient of the Tony Honor for Excellence in the Theatre.
