Food for Thought Series Moving to Players Club

Food for Thought, the popular series of lunchtime play readings, will begin its sixth season on September 12 in a new location: The Players Club, located at 16 Gramercy Park South. For the past three years, the nearby National Arts Club at 20 Gramercy Park South has been home to the series; according to Food for Thought artistic director Susan Charlotte, the move is happening due to the need for a larger performance space.

The 2005-2006 season will open on September 12 with a reading of plays by Dorothy Parker and Clifford Odets. A black-tie gala to celebrate the new venue, which will feature premieres of several one-act plays, is set for October 25. The season will conclude on Thursday, June 23 with a reading by Lynn Redgrave of her autobiographical solo show Nightingale and the New York premiere of Tennessee Williams’ Why Do You Smoke So Much, Lily, starring Penny Fuller and Tasha Lawrence.
