Flashback Friday: Rodgers & Hammerstein's Perfect Song About Fatherhood Sung by One of Broadway's Most Imperfect Fathers
Celebrate Father's Day with John Raitt's rendition of ''Carousel'''s "Soliloquy."
As we've learned from Broadway this season (in shows like Big Fish and Violet), fatherhood can be a tough job. But no matter what happens down the road, dads start out with the best of intentions. No Broadway tune illustrates that point better than "Soliloquy" from Rodgers & Hammerstein's Carousel. Billy Bigelow is no one's idea of a perfect parent (or husband), but this song proves that he was planning to try his darndest.
