It has just been announced that Patti LuPone, Christine Ebersole, David Elder, Scott Wise, Annie Golden, and Greg Jbara, along with Harvey Fierstein and the entire cast of Hairspray, will perform when the Stage Directors and Choreographers Foundation presents its “Mr. Abbott” award for lifetime achievement to Jack O’Brien — director of Hairspray, The Full Monty, and many other shows — on Monday, December 2 at Pier Sixty/Chelsea Piers in Manhattan.

Also on hand to laud O’Brien will be Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman (who wrote the score for Hairspray), David Yabek (The Full Monty‘s composer-lyricist), Marvin Hamlisch, Nora Ephron, Tom Stoppard, and Terrence McNally.

Though tickets for the entire evening’s festivities — VIP reception plus dinner plus the show — begin at $500, a limited number of tickets for the show only, which is set to begin at 8:30pm, have been made available at $50 for purchase no later than November 25. (That amount includes a tax-deductible $25 donation to benefit the SDCF’s educational programs.) To order, visit the website www.SDCFoundation.org or phone 212-302-5359, ext. 244.
