Oscar winner F. Murray Abraham will be among the participants in the 12th annual Lower East Side Festival of the Arts, a free three-day arts festival at Theater for the New City, running May 25-27.

Other participants in the festival include Penny Arcade, Micah Bucey, Crystal Field, Joe Franklin, Mario Fratti, Helen Hanft, Eduardo Machado, Lola Pashalinski, and Reno. There will also be excerpts from The Living Theatre's production of The Brig, Vital Children's Theatre's new musical Pinkalicious, and more.

Abraham won an Academy Award for Best Actor for the 1984 film version of Peter Shaffer's Amadeus. His Broadway credits include The Man in the Glass Booth, 6 Rms Riv Vu, The Ritz, Angels in America, A Month in the Country, and Triumph of Love. He most recently appeared in Theatre For a New Audience's productions of The Merchant of Venice and The Jew of Malta earlier this season. Abraham will perform excerpts from Merchant in addition to a speech given by Bartolomeo Vanzetti -- of Sacco and Vanzetti, the Italian-born anarchists -- at their history-making trial in Massachusetts in 1927.
