Ethan Hawke, Kristen Johnston, Wallace Shawn, Christopher Sieber et al. Set for New Group’s Annual Gala

Christopher Sieber and Lucas Steele will perform at The New Group’s annual gala, to be held on Monday, May 9 at Capitale. As previously reported, the event will be hosted by Kristen Johnston and Frank Whaley.

Ethan Hawke and Natasha Lyonne will serve as presenters for the evening, which honors playwright and actor Wallace Shawn, along with Fred Wistow, with The Michael Mendelson Award for Outstanding Commitment to Theater.

In addition to tributes to Shawn and Wistow, the event will include a cocktail reception, dinner, an auction and entertainment.

Shawn’s plays include Marie and Bruce, Aunt Dan and Lemon, The Fever, and The Designated Mourner. In 2009 he published his first book of non-fiction, Essays by Wallace Shawn. Wistow is a former member of the board for The New Group and currently serves as chairman of the Psychotherapy Network, Inc.
