Eric Idle to Star in Not the Messiah at Caramoor in July

Former Monty Python star Eric Idle will act as narrator and soloist in the U.S. premiere of his new work Not the Messiah (He’s a Very Naughty Boy) on Sunday, July 1 at Caramoor, located in Katonah, New York.

The comic oratorio, co-written by Idle and composer John Du Prez — who collaborated with Idle on Monty Python’s Spamalot i– s based on the film Monty Python’s Life of Brian. Peter Oundjian, Caramoor’s principal conductor, will lead the Orchestra of St. Luke’s with The Collegiate Chorale and other featured soloists in the performance. Shows will be at 3:30pm and 7pm.

The 2007 Caramoor International Musical Festival runs June 23-August 5 and includes performances of classical music, jazz, opera, and bluegrass, among other attractions.
