Ensemble Studio Theatre’s Marathon 2000

The Ensemble Studio Theatre, which has fostered the creation of more than 5,000 new plays during the past two-and-a-half decades, presents Marathon 2000, their 23rd annual festival of new one-act plays. The program is comprised of three two-week series, with performances from Wednesday, May 3, through Sunday, June 11.

The event, dedicated to nurturing individual theater artists and to developing new plays by American playwrights, will include works by: Billy Aronson, Leslie Ayvazian, Edward Allan Baker, Leslie Caputo, Heather Dundas, Steve Feffer, David Ives, Warren Leight, Romulus Linney, Peter Maloney, Jeff Reich, Will Scheffer, and Stuart Spencer.

Plays that have premiered in past Marathons have gone on to Broadway, Off-Broadway, and regional theater productions. Playwrights have also used the one-act form as a means to prepare their work for expansion to full-length plays.

Performances are Mondays, and Wednesdays through Saturdays, at 7:30pm, with Sunday matinees at 3pm, at the Ensemble Studio Theatre, located at 549 West 52nd Street (between 10th and 11th Avenues). Single tickets are $15.00, and a pass to all three series may be purchased for $40.00. For reservations or further information call 212-247-4982
