Eisa Davis, Dick Cavett, E.L. Doctorow to Appear as Part of Symphony Space’s 1939 Project

Eisa Davis, a star of the Tony Award-winning musical Passing Strange and author of the play Bulrusher, will perform at New York’s Symphony Space on Friday, February 6 as part of the 1939 Project. Her concert will feature famous American protest songs as well as some of her original music.

The month-long series will also include concerts by vocalists Robin Aleman, Marion Cowings, Dawn Clement, Jody Sanhaus, and Peter Malinverni, pianists Sara Laimon and Kirk Nurock, the American Symphony Orchestra, the Colorado Quartet, and the Talujon Percussion Quartet.

In addition, there will be a discussion, American Culture in Context: The Essence of 1939, moderated by Dick Cavett and featuring author E.L. Doctorow, and screenings of such classic films as Ninotchka, The Little Princess The Women, Gone With the Wind, and Stagecoach.
