Edie Falco, Ben Stiller to Star in Broadway Revival of House of Blue Leaves; David Cromer to Direct

Edie Falco and Ben Stiller will star in a spring 2011 Broadway revival of John Guare’s The House of Blue Leaves, according to a report in Variety. It will be produced by Scott Rudin, with David Cromer attached to direct.

The play is set during the Pope’s 1965 visit to New York City, which brings the hope of answered prayers and a few unexpected guests to an apartment in Sunnyside, Queens, where Artie Shaughnessy (Stiller), a zookeeper, pines for a new life as a popular songwriter. Falco will play his schizophrenic wife, Bananas.

Falco starred on Broadway in ‘night, Mother and Frankie and Johnny in the Claire de Lune, and recently appeared Off-Broadway in This Wide Night. She currently stars in Showtime’s Nurse Jackie and is best known for her Emmy Award-winning role of Carmelo Soprano in The Sopranos.

Stiller played the role of Ronnie Shaughnessy in the 1986 Broadway revival of The House of Blue Leaves. He is best known for his film and television work, earning a 1993 Emmy for writing on his The Ben Stiller Show.
