Anika Noni Rose, who played Lorell Robinson in the hit film Dreamgirls and won a Tony Award for Caroline, or Change, will be among the guest performers in Too Marvelous for Words, a benefit concert for the New York Festival of Song, to be held at 7pm on Tuesday, May 15 at Weill Recital Hall.

Devoted to the songs of lyricist Johnny Mercer, the concert will also feature Liz Callaway, Eric Comstock, and Tom Wopat, with NYFOS co-founder Steven Blier at the piano. During Mercer’s extensive career, he wrote with such noted composers as Harold Arlen, Hoagy Carmichael, Jerome Kern, Henry Mancini, and Richard Whiting.

NYFOS was founded by Blier and Michael Barrett in 1988, and is dedicated to creating intimate song concerts that both entertain and educate.

Tickets to the gala, which includes a post-concert dinner at Remi, are $500 and $750 per person. To purchase tickets or to obtain further information, call 646-230-8380.
