The Broadway production of Dracula, the Musical will end its run at the Belasco Theatre on January 2, 2005. The show opened on August 19; as of its closing, it will have played 22 previews and 157 regular performances.

Directed by Des McAnuff, this adaptation of Bram Stoker’s classic novel has music by Frank Wildhorn, book and lyrics by Don Black and Christopher Hampton. It stars Tom Hewitt as the titular vampire, Melissa Errico as Mina Murray, and Kelli O’Hara as the ill-fated Lucy Westenra. Also in the company are Don Stephenson, Darren Ritchie, Chris Hoch, Bart Shatto, Shonn Wiley, and Stephen McKinley Henderson.

In his review of the show for TheaterMania, David Finkle wrote: “Dracula, the Musical is so inept that it’s difficult to resist the temptation to drag out expected puns about it.” He went on to describe the production as “juiceless, joyless, and — inexcusable for an adaptation of a classic thriller — shockless.”
