Three-time Academy Award nominee Debra Winger will star in The Pod Project, created and directed by Nancy Bannon, at 20 Greene Gallery from January 31 to February 11.

In this unique theatrical experience inspired by elevator rides, 13 short scenes will be performed for one audience member at a time within an enclosed “pod” created specially for the project. Inside the pod, the audience member may pop into a dentist’s office, a mountaintop ski-lift, a cocoon, a peep-show, a snow globe, or a bathroom with a woman in the shower.

Also featured in the cast will be Playwrights Horizons founder Bob Moss, Marc Kenison, Stephanie Liapis, Risa Steinberg, Arnie Apostol, Keith Johnson, Megan Brunsvold, Tricia Nelson, Jennifer Gillespie, Rick Meese, Dr. Jose Souto, Netta Yerushalmy, Ryan Corriston, and Lily Fischer. The show is produced by Bannon and Tony Award winner Brian MacDevitt, who is also the lighting designer. The Pod Project will have costumes by Ilona Somogyi.

Winger received Oscar nominations for her performances in Shadowlands, Terms of Endearment, and An Officer and a Gentlemen. Her stage credits include How I Learned to Drive and Ivanov with the American Repertory Theatre.
