Daniel J. Travanti and Adam Green to Star in The Last Word…

Emmy Award winner Daniel J. Travanti and Adam Green will star in Oren Safdie’s The Last Word…, January 30-March 11 at the Theater at St. Clements. The production, to be directed by Alex Lippard, will open officially on February 8.

The play concerns a Viennese Jew who fled the Nazis and became a successful advertising executive in New York. Now retired, he turns to playwriting and engages the assistance of a young and opinionated NYU student. Safdie is best known as the author of Private Jokes, Public Places.

The creative team or The Last Word…includes Michael V. Moore (sets) and Lucas Krech (lighting). Among Lippard’s many directorial credits are Sake with the Haiku Geisha, Cupid and Psyche, and The Gold Standard.

Travanti, who will make his New York stage debut in The Last Word…, is well known for his Emmy-winning role of Captain Frank Furillo in TV’s Hill Street Blues and currently co-stars in the hit series Prison Break. He has worked extensively in regional theater and in London, including the Los Angeles premiere of The Last Word… and productions of All My Sons, A Touch of the Poet, The Guys, and Rhinoceros. Green’s stage credits include Awake and Sing!, All This Intimacy, and The Mines of Sulphur.
