T. Scott Cunningham, Cynthia Harris, Marin Ireland, Caroline Lagerfelt, Lorenzo Pisoni, and Reg Rogers will star in South Coast Repertory’s world premiere of Richard Greenberg’s comedy The Injured Party, April 20-May 11, to be presented as part of its annual Pacific Playwrights Festival. The production will be directed by Trip Cullman.

The play, which was commissioned by South Coast Rep, is set in New York City in 2005 against the backdrop of the art installation The Gates in Central Park. The main characters are Maxine, 92 years old and enormously rich, and Seth, her not-so-rich, hopelessly stalled grandson who is determined that “redistribution must commence.”

The show’s creative team includes David Korins (sets), Candice Cain (costumes), Ben Stanton (lighting), and John Gromadao (sound). Cullman’s many directorial credits include The Drunken City, Bad Jazz, Some Men, Dark Matters, Dog Sees God, Swimming in the Shallows, and The Last Sunday in June.

Greenberg won the Tony, Drama Desk, Outer Critics Circle, Lucille Lortel, and Drama League Awards for Take Me Out. His many other plays include The Violet Hour, Three Days of Rain, A Naked Girl on the Appian Way, The Dazzle, The House in Town, Night and Her Stars, and Everett Beekin.
