Cumpsty, Mays, Strathairn Set for Shakespeare Society’s Boys Will Be Girls

Michael Cumpsty, Jefferson Mays, and David Strathairn will participate in Boys Will Be Girls, a special presentation of the Shakespeare Society to be held at 6:30pm on Monday, February 13 at the Kaye Playhouse at Hunter College (Park Avenue and 68th Street).

During this 90-minute event, the three actors will read excerpts from some of the Bard’s most famous roles for women, including Lady Macbeth and Rosalind. The evening will also include members of the all-female troupe The Queens Company performing scenes from their production of The Taming of the Shrew, plus commentary by author Dympna Callaghan.

Cumpsty was most recently seen Off-Broadway in the CSC production of Hamlet; his Broadway credits include The Constant Wife, Copenhagen, and 42nd Street.. Mays won a Tony Award and numerous other honors for his performance in I Am My Own Wife. Strathairn starred on Broadway in Dance of Death and Salome; he can currently be seen as Edward R. Murrow in the film Good Night, and Good Luck, for which he received Golden Globe and SAG Award nominations.
