Cory Michael Smith to Join Emilia Clarke in Broadway's Breakfast at Tiffany's
Richard Greenberg's stage adaptation of Truman Capote's novella to begin performances at Cort Theatre on March 20.
Cory Michael Smith (The Whale) will join previously announced star Emilia Clarke in Tony Award winner Richard Greenberg's new stage adaptation of Truman Capote's Breakfast at Tiffany's, which will begin performances on March 4 at the Cort Theatre. Sean Mathias will helm the production, which will officially open on March 20.
Set in 1943 New York City, Breakfast at Tiffany's follows Fred (Smith), a young writer from Louisiana who falls for the vivacious and elusive Holly Golightly (Clarke). The property is best known for its 1961 film adaptation, which starred Audrey Hepburn, George Peppard, Mickey Rooney, and Patricia Neal.
The creative team will feature Derek McLane (scenic design) and Colleen Atwood (costume design), Peter Kaczorowski (lighting design), Wendall K. Harrington (projections design) and Rob Milburn & Michael Bodeen (music and sound design). Additional casting will be announced shortly.
Clarke is best known for her work as Daenerys Targaryen on the hit HBO series Game of Thrones. Smith, who is currently co-starring in the Playwrights Horizons production of The Whale, has previously appeared Off-Broadway in Cock and The Shaggs: Philosophy of the World.
Greenberg's plays include Take Me Out, for which he won the Tony Award, Three Days of Rain, The American Plan, and The Violet Hour. His newest play, The Assembled Parties, will open on Broadway at Manhattan Theatre Club's Samuel J. Friedman Theatre in April.
