Tony nominee John Ellison Conlee is set to star in the final season of HBO's Boardwalk Empire, which premieres September 5 on HBO. Conlee will take on the role of The Commodore, an older version of whom was played in Seasons 1 and 2 by Dabney Coleman.

Flashback scenes will feature prominently in this fifth and final season. The Commodore was the major power broker in Atlantic City throughout the season. He is seen in 1884 and 1897 as Atlantic City begins to be developed as a resort.

John Ellison Conlee has recently been seen onstage in The (curious case of the) Watson Intelligence at Playwrights Horizons as well as in MTC's Murder Ballad and The Madrid. Recent film and TV work includes the upcoming films When I Live My Life Over Again and Ned Rifle. His Broadway credits include The Full Monty (for which he received a Tony nomination), The Constant Wife, and 1776.
