Composer Elizabeth Swados’ new musical Rachel and Leah will receive a concert premiere at The Metropolitan Room, on Sunday November 20 at 9:30pm.

Rebecca Keren and Daniella Rabbani have written the book for the show (featuring lyrics by Keren), and the two will also star in the concert. Leah Bonvissuto will direct, with musical direction by Kris Kukul.

Set in ancient Iraq, the musical tells the story of inseparable twin daughters who become rivals when each falls in love with Jacob, a man who has come to work for their father Lavan, and who marries both women.

Swados received multiple Tony nominations for her work on Runaways, including for her score to the show. Among her other works is her recently premiered The La MaMa Cantata, honoring the late La MaMa founder Ellen Stewart.
