Claire van der Boom will take over the role of Sally from Julianne Nicholson in the Signature Theatre’s production of Heartless beginning September 18 at the Signature Center. Nicholson has prior commitments that prevent her from staying with the show for its two-week extension through Sunday, September 30.

In this world premiere play from Sam Shepard, Sally lives with her mysterious family in a cavernous home overlooking Los Angeles. When a visitor arrives, Sally’s dark secrets – and the secrets of those around her – threaten to come into the light.

Van der Boom starred Off-Broadway earlier this year in The New Group’s An Early History of Fire. Television credits include HBO’s The Pacific and CBS’ Hawaii Five-0.

The cast also includes Jenny Bacon, Gary Cole, Betty Gilpin, and Lois Smith.
