Christina DeCicco Joins Broadway’s Spider-Man Turn Off the Dark

The actress, who last appeared as the Eva alternate in Evita, takes on the role of Arachne.

Broadway veteran Christina DeCicco (Evita) joined the Broadway cast of Spider-Man Turn Off the Dark on Tuesday, April 23 at the Foxwoods Theatre. The actress plays the role of Arachne, previously played by Katrina Lenk, who departed the company on April 21.

In addition to having performed the role of Eva Peron twice a week in the recent Broadway revival of Evita, DeCicco has appeared on Broadway in Sister Act and toured the United States as Glinda in the musical Wicked. She costarred in The Marvelous Wonderettes off-Broadway, as well as in regional productions of Sunset Boulevard, Les Misérables, and West Side Story, among others.

Featuring a score by Bono and the Edge, a book cowritten by Julie Taymor, Glen Berger, and Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, original direction by Julie Taymor, and additional direction by Philip William McKinley, the high-flying musical tells the origin story of the masked crusader, inspired by the classic Marvel comic books. Leading the company are Reeve Carney as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, Rebecca Faulkenbery as Mary Jane Watson, Robert Cuccioli as Norman Osborn/The Green Goblin, Michael Mulheren as J. Jonah Jameson, Ken Marks as Uncle Ben, and Isabel Keating as Aunt May.
