Choreographer/Director Donya Feuer Has Died

Feuer’s theater credits include creating choreography for numerous Ingmar Bergman productions, including two seen at the Brooklyn Academy of Music: The Winter’s Tale in 1995 and Maria Stuart in 2002. Among their other collaborations are productions of Julius Caesar, King Lear and Peer Gynt.

As a director, her credits include The Dancer, a 1994 documentary that follows the ballet student’s training and Nijinsky: A Life. In addition, she and Berman co-directed The Magic Flute and Face to Face.

American-born, Feuer’s earliest credits include training with Martha Graham and performances with Paul Taylor, including the premiere of 7 New Dances. In addition, she and dancer choreographer Paul Sanasardo formed their own company and school in New York, Studio for Dance, pioneering full-evening modern-dance works.

She is survived by a son and her companion.
