Charles Randolph-Wright to Be Honored at Pasadena Playhouse

Playwright Charles Randolph-Wright will be honored at the 2nd Annual Sheldon Epps Theatrical Diversity Celebration, to be held on Tuesday, March 13 at the Pasadena Playhouse.
The evening, to be hosted by actresses Loretta Devine and Jenifer Lewis, will include a performance of the playwright’s Cuttin’ Up, an exploration of the world of African-American barbershops. The show is directed by Israel Hicks and the cast features Dorian Logan, Darryl Alan Reed, Adolphus Ward, Harvy Blanks, Bill Grimmette, Iona Morris, Maceo Oliver, and Jacques C. Smith.
Randolph-Wright is best known as the author of Blue as well as Lewis’ solo show The Diva Is Dismissed, which he directed. He recently directed the film Preaching to the Choir and is preparing to write and direct the film version of the stage hit Mama, I Want to Sing.
