Casting Announced for Knuffle Bunny Musical Tour; New York Engagement Scheduled

The Kennedy Center has announced casting for Knuffle Bunny: A Cautionary Musical, whch will embark on a national tour with an engagement at the Bowie Center for the Performing Arts, to run October 8-9. Rosemary Newcott will direct the production, which will have choreography by Paige Hernandez and is part of the Center’s 18th Theater for Young Audiences on Tour series.

The tour will include 57 cities in 29 states, including one at New York’s at the Skirball Center for the Performing Arts.(February 26-27) and concluding with an engagement at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center in Newark, running May 18-21. The tour will also play such cities Everett, WA; Provo, UT; Cleveland, OH; St. Louis, MO; Portland, ME; Austin, TX; and Memphis, TN, among others.

With music by Michael Silversher and a book adapted by Mo Willems from his popular Knuffle Bunny, the show tells the story of toddler Trixie who has a beloved stuffed bunny, which she misplaces while on a trip to the laundromat with her slightly disheveled dad. The company will feature Tia Shearer (Trixie), Brian Sutow (Dad), and Jennifer Timberlake (Mom), along with puppeteers Jeffery Peterson and Andrea Washington.

The creative team will include Kat Conley (scenic and puppet design), Ryan Wineinger (projection design), Kate Turner-Walker (costume design), Jeff Bruckerhoff (lighting design), and Ryan Gastelum (sound design).
