Phil Tayler, Ed Hoopman, and More Cast in City of Angels

The Lyric Stage Company of Boston has announced casting for its upcoming production of the 1990 Tony Award-winning musical City of Angels, featuring Tony-winning music and lyrics by Cy Coleman and David Zippel, and a Tony-winning book by Larry Gelbart. Performances will run from March 27-May 2 with an official March 29 opening. Spiro Veloudos directs.

Set in 1940s Hollywood, City of Angels follows Stine, "a disillusioned young novelist attempting to write a screenplay for a tyrannical movie producer." As his marriage falls apart, the play follows Stine’s film alter ego, detective Stone.

The cast will include Elise Arsenault, Leigh Barrett, Tony Castellanos, Jen Ellis, Ed Hoopman, Sarah Kornfeld, Meghan LaFlam, Michael Levesque, Margarita Martinez, Brandon Milardo, Davron Monroe, Samantha Richert, Damon Singletary, Phil Tayler, Andrew Tung, J.T. Turner, and Patrick Varner.

The show's design team will include Matt Whiton (set design), Elisabetta Polito (costume design), John Malinowski (lighting design), David Wilson (sound design), Johnathan Carr (projection design), and J.T. Turner (fight choreography). Musical direction will be by Catherine Stornetta, with choreography by Rachel Bertone.
