Carrie Fisher’s Wishful Drinking to Debut on HBO on December 12

Carrie Fisher’s one-woman show Wishful Drinking will be the subject of an HBO feature-length documentary, to premiere on Sunday, December 12. Randy Barbato and Fenton Bailey will direct the project.

In Wishful Drinking, Fisher shares stories of her childhood with her entertainer parents, Debbie Reynolds and Eddie Fisher and anecdotes about her life in Hollywood, including her years playing Princess Leia in the Star Wars movies. Fisher recently received Drama Desk, Drama League, and Outer Critics Circle nominations for her performance in the Broadway production of the piece. In addition to the stage version of the piece, Fisher has also published it as a memoir.

The documentary will use footage of the production which was taped at the South Orange Performing Arts Center in New Jersey on June 26, along with archival footage and other interviews.
