Carolina Panthers Running Back DeAngelo Williams to Make Cameo Appearance in Broadway's Rock of Ages
Williams will make his Broadway debut as part of the show's #BroadwayBlitz in celebration of Super Bowl XLVIII.
Broadway's Rock of Ages has announced that All-Pro running back DeAngelo Williams of the Carolina Panthers will join fellow NFL superstars Randall Cobb of the Green Bay Packers, Joique Bell of the Detroit Lions, and four-time Pro Bowler Ahman Green in making his Broadway debut in a special cameo role at the Helen Hayes Theatre. The sportsmen will be appearing onstage as part of the musical's #BroadwayBlitz in celebration of Super Bowl XLVIII in New York City.
Cobb kicked off the series on January 28, and Bell appeared on January 29. Williams will take the stage on January 31, followed by Green on February 1. As previously announced, the cast of Rock of Ages will be performing at the official NFL Tailgate Party at the Grandstand at Meadowlands Racetrack and Game Day Fan Plaza outside of MetLife Stadium on Super Bowl Sunday.
These events surrounding the Super Bowl are a continuation of the Broadway show's relationships with professional athletes and sports fans. Over the years, the show has drawn pro athletes including such names as Eli Manning, Mark Sanchez, Rob Gronkowski, Tim Tebow, Clay Matthews, Amar'e Stoudemire, and more.
Directed by Kristin Hanggi and choreographed by Kelly Devine, the five-time Tony-nominated Rock of Ages features a book by Chris D'Arienzo and a score that includes hits by 1980s hair metal bands such as Night Ranger, Twisted Sister, Foreigner, Poison, REO Speedwagon, and Journey.
