Carol Channing, Tyne Daly, Michael Feinstein, Dionne Warwick, et al. Win Bistro Awards

The winners of the 26th annual Bistro Awards have been announced. The prizes will be presented in a ceremony to be held on Tuesday, April 26 at Gotham Comedy Club. Jim David will host the event, which will be directed by Edie Cowan.

Among the honorees are Dionne Warwick, who will receipt the Bob Harrington Lifetime Achievement Award; Carol Channing who will receive a special award recognizing her ongoing commitment and dedication to arts education in our public schools; and Michael Feinstein, who will be honored with an award for his three-part documentary series Michael Feinstein’s American Songbook.

Singers who have won Bistro Awards include Tyne Daly (Outstanding Major Engagement), Allan Harris (Ongoing Achievement in Jazz), Kevin Dozier (Outstanding Vocalist), Carole J. Bufford (Outstanding Vocalist), and Hilary Kole (Outstanding Recording for You Are There).

In addition, the Ira Eaker Special Achievement Award, given to an outstanding performer on the rise, will be given to The Rescignos, brothers Robbie and Paul Rescigno.

Other winners include the Johnny Rodgers Band (Outstanding Musical Group), and guitarist Sean Harkness (Outstanding Instrumentalist), as well as Anthony Cochran for Elvis Lives (Outstanding Theme Show), and Janice Hall for Grand Illusions: The Music of Marlene Dietrich (Outstanding Tribute Show).
