Bundy, Dancy, Davis, Groff, Ziemba, et al. to Host Easter Bonnet

Broadway stars Ashley Brown, Laura Bell Bundy, Todd Buonopane, Hugh Dancy, Paige Davis, Jared Gertner, Jonathan Groff, Edward Hibbert, Amy Irving, Ron Kunene, Gavin Lee, Tshidi Manye, Lea Michele, Patrick Page, Christine Pedi, Karen Ziemba, and musical director Seth Rudetsky will host the Broadway Cares/ Equity Fights AIDS’ 21st Annual Easter Bonnet Competition at 4:30pm on Monday, April 23 and 2pm on Tuesday, April 24 at the Minskoff Theatre (200 West 45th Street).

The Easter Bonnet Competition features the companies of more than 20 Broadway, Off-Broadway and touring productions singing, dancing, and donning specially created Easter bonnets. Judging this year’s entries will be actress Stephanie J. Block, Actors’ Equity executive director John Connolly, author Joan Didion, lyricist Tom Jones, choreographer Baayork Lee, Tony Award-winning musical star Bebe Neuwirth, and composer Richard M. Sherman.

This year’s opening number has been created by choreographer Christopher Gattelli and actor-writers Hunter Bell and Jeff Bowen, the co-creators of the hit musical [title of show]. In addition, Company star Raul Esparza will sing David Friedman’s Help Is On the Way, the competition’s official anthem.

The competition is the culmination of six intensive weeks of fundraising efforts by Broadway and Off-Broadway company members as well as numerous productions currently on national tour. The winner of the competition will be the company that raises the largest amount of money for BC/EFA. A second award is granted to the company with the best bonnet design and presentation. Awards are also presented to the Broadway Play, National Tour and Off-Broadway production raising the most money for BC/EFA.
