Broadway’s Superior Donuts to Close on January 3

The Broadway production of Tracy Letts’ Superior Donuts will close at the Music Box Theatre on January 3.

The show, directed by Tina Landua, feature sthe entire original cast of the Steppenwolf Theatre Company production, including Michael McKean, Jon Michael Hill, Yasen Peyankov, James Vincent Meredith, Jane Alderman, Kate Buddeke, Cliff Chamberlain, Michael Garvey, and Robert Maffia.

In the play, Arthur (McKean) owns a decrepit donut shop in Chicago, and Franco Wicks (Hill), a black teenager who is his only employee, wants to change the shop for the better.

Letts won the 2008 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, as well as the Tony Award and Drama Desk Award for August: Osage County. His other plays include Man from Nebraska, Killer Joe, and Bug. Landau, a longtime member of Steppenwolf, directed the Broadway revival of Bells Are Ringing. Her many other directing credits include Floyd Collins, Miracle Brothers, Iphigenia 2.0, Time of Your Life, and Wig Out!
