Broadway's Tony Award-winning revival of Stephen Schwartz and Roger O. Hirson's musical Pippin celebrated its 200th performance at the Music Box Theatre on Wednesday, October 16. Following the matinee, the cast and members of the creative team gathered onstage to celebrate the milestone with a commemorative sheet cake.
This revival of Pippin, which originated at the American Repertory Theater, melds Schwartz and Hirson's classic coming-of-age musical with the death-defying tricks of contemporary circus. Directed by 2013 Tony winner Diane Paulus, choreographed by Chet Walker in the style of Bob Fosse, and featuring circus creations by Gypsy Snider of Les 7 doigts de la main, the production stars Tony winner Patina Miller, Matthew James Thomas, Terrence Mann, Charlotte d'Amboise, Rachel Bay Jones, Erik Altemus, and Tovah Feldshuh.
